An iron bowl of four gold-lacquered plates and with the unusual feature of having hibiki-no-ana [four holes in the sides of a helmet for loop of silk lacing] and shitenno-byo [a single standing rivet placed above the holes], the peak with applied eyebrows and a haraidate [crest holder], the iron Hineno-jikoro [close fitting neck-guard] of gold-lacquered kiritsuke-kozane [imitation lamellae] with pale brown kebiki-odoshi [close lacing]. Together with a russet-iron menpo [mask] in ressei style boldly modelled with pouched cheeks and wrinkles and silvered copper teeth, the nose secured by turning pins, the lower plate of the black-lacquered iron three-lame yodarekake [throat defence] embossed with a row of studs, with dark blue sugake-odoshi [spaced lacing], 18th century (2)
