H.M.S. Euraylus (1803): An autograph manuscript officers order book
for orders between 1808 and 1813 from the Captain to the Officers and Men including signals to be observed by the ship's boats, procedural instruction and muster listings for various positions mizzen, topsail etc, noted by Lt John Paynter on behalf of Capt. George H.L. Dundas, approximately forty-eight pages, bound within marbled thin card sleeve -- 7 x 4½in. (17.8 x 11.5cm.)

Lot Essay

H.M.S. Euryalus fought at Trafalgar and was famous for noting in her log Nelson's famous pre-Battle signal England expects that every man will do his duty. Lt Paynter served aboard her between 1810 and 1815.
