NEWTON's Improved Pocket Celestial GLOBE [c.1830]
A 3-inch (7.6cm.) diameter celestial pocket globe made up of twelve engraved yellow gores laid to the celestial poles, the equatorial graduated in degrees and hours, the equinoctial and solstitial colures graduated in degrees, the ecliptic graduated in days of the houses of the Zodiac with sigils, the hemispheres labelled Circle of Perpetual Apparition at London and Circle of Perpetual Ocultation at London, the constellations depicted by mythical beasts and figures and scientific instruments, the stars to several orders of magnitude but with no key (old neat repairs and redrawing, some minor discolouration) with steel axis pins in a turned fruitwood case with domed lid with flat knop -- 4in. (10.2cm.) high
