Lot Essay

This document was signed by George III shortly after his return to health after his famous period of 'madness' from October 1788 to February 1789. Before the end of that month he was able to write to his Prime Minister, William Pitt the Younger, thanking him for his warm support during his illness and in April he had attended a service of thanksgiving in St. Paul's Cathedral.
