Ex Payne and Elson Collections.

Quarter-Master Henry Higgins was advanced to Corporal in July 1803 and to Sergeant in August 1805. Subsequently engaged in the Walcheren Expedition of 1809, he went on to witness further active service in the Peninsula at the Battles of Salamanca, Vittoria and Toulouse, and was advanced to Sergeant-Major in March 1813. Higgins subsequently transferred to the 7th Dragoon Guards and was appointed Regimental Quarter-Master in April 1825. He was finally placed on Half-Pay in March 1843 and died in 1857.
