Messrs. A. Hepplewhite & Co.'s The Cabinet-Maker and Upholsterer's Guide, 1788 issued a related pattern for an oval-topped and medallion-centred pembroke table with laurel-wreathed border, and noted that it was 'Proper for tops, inlaid, or painted and varnished' (pl. 63).
