The later Guillestre Breccia marble top above four graduated drawers with cross and chequer-banding, the top drawer fitted with adjustable compartments, four short drawers below a green baize-lined slide, between fiddleback mahogany-panelled and chequer-banded angles, on shaped bracket feet, the reverse with depository label inscribed 'J.G.S.MACPHAIL', the underside of the marble top inscribed 'Mcphail', the metalwork original

Lot Essay

This commode is unusual in having a marble top and although it is a later replacement, the construction shows that the commode was designed to take a marble top.
