A pair of Berlin (Wegely) figures from a series emblematic of the seasons Circa 1780, blue W marks, Summer with impressed 6 99 r and Spring with or 99 r
Modelled as youths, each scantily clad and with their respective attributes, Spring crowned with a garland of flowers, holding a flower and leaning against a tree-stump, Summer cutting a stook of corn with a scythe, each on waisted bases with canted corners terminating in scrolls, the concave facets moulded with escutcheons and seasonal trophies, enriched with gilding (Spring with minute wear to gilding, minute chipping to garland and his little fingers, Summer broken through legs and repaired, scythe blade a replacement, element in left hand chipped and wear to gilding)
