A garniture of three Berlin vases
Circa 1780
The central baluster white vase with waisted neck moulded with gilt pendant swags, the rim with a gilt key-pattern border divided by two bearded masks suspending garlands, the shoulder with gilt ribbon-tied reeds above pendant swags, the lower part moulded with shallow gadroons and gilt up-turned stiff-leaves, the waisted foot edged with gadroons on a square plinth with canted corners and edges, the flanking compressed oviform vases moulded with shallow gadroons, the shoulders with gilt key-pattern bands divided by gilt mourning female head handles suspending swags, with gilt garlands below squat waisted necks, the lower parts with gilt up-turned stiff-leaves, the waisted feet on similar plinths (slight wear to gilding, central vase with restoration to ribbons, lower part with damages and restoration, very slight chipping to edge of base, another vase with minute chip to headdress of handle, restored pendant cloth to other handle and restoration to cloth bundle at shoulder, the other with slight chipping to headdresses of handles and chip to top of foot)
