Circa 1740, the contemporary mounts with later control mark (probably French)
The sides painted with capricci of elegant figures at discussion on terraces within double gilt and black line quatrefoil cartouches, the canted corners with gilt scrolling foliage, the top with a similar scene of figures by a wooded lakeside, the base and inside of the cover with gallants and companions promenading in elegant wooded gardens with herms, a fountain and a pergola, the interior divided
