A late 19th-Century oxidised and lacquered-brass Everest-pattern theodolite,
unsigned, the telescope with rack and pinion focusing, object glass dust cap, four spider's-web adjusters, extension tube, graduated bubble level, mounted on twin fold-over clamps, with two limbs secured to the axes incorporating to one side the two vertical part circles with silvered scales and verniers, the opposite vertical support with tangent-screw fine adjustment and clamp, the horizontal plate incorporating the graduated bubble level, with twin detachable vernier magnifiers, the silvered vernier scales arranged to read against the horizontal circle with chamfered silvered scale, tangent-screw fine adjustment and clamp, on four-screw tripod attachment, with accessories, in the original mahogany carrying case, the lid with painted inscription 5in,, THEODe,,(77) -- 12in. (30.5cm.) wide
