An 18th-Century gilt-brass German compass sundial,
unsigned, the horizontal plate finely engraved with hour scale in Roman numerals bordered by foliate decoration, the folding plummet with pierced and scroll decorated support, the folding latitude arc with scale 30°-70°, the hour ring with latitude 'hand' register, silvered scale and sprung pin gnomon, the compass with silvered dial, adjustable variation volvelle and finely modelled iron needle with brass cap, with the original silk-lined leather-covered case (defective) --3¼in.
