The dial signed Francois H Schmidt à Graüz on a brass arched plaque above the Roman and Arabic chapter ring with pierced blued steel hands, the gilt centre engraved with radial foliate designs and with decorated calendar and mock pendulum apertures, laurel-cast gilt spandrels centred by silver lions' heads cast in high relief, the arch with subsidiary dials for Schl./Nicht Schleag; day of week; month and Repelirt/Nischt Rep; rolling moonphase above the pendulum regulation arc, the movement with thick brass plates secured by four conical pillars, triple going barrels, the going train with verge escapement, hour strike on the large bell with quarters struck on a bell of smaller size, seperate small alarm barrel fixed to the inside front plate and wound through the back plate, barrel ratchet-and-clicks to the plain backplate
