A VICTORIAN BRONZE PATINATED BRASS STRIKING AND REPEATING CARRIAGE CLOCK
James McCabe, No. 2920. Mid 19th century
The case of typical McCabe form with curved angles and bevelled side glasses, reeded and scroll handle, solid rear door released by a sliding catch, with shuttered winding holes and sliding strike/silent adjustment, the plain silvered dial with Roman chapter ring and signed JAMES McCABE ROYAL EXCHANGE LONDON 2920, with blued steel fleur de lis hands, the twin chain fusee movement with high quality gilt platform to the plain gilt three arm lever balance, repeat button plunging through the top glass, with strike/repeat on gong to the backplate with repeat signature and number; with original numbered key and with brown leather travel case (lacking front cover)
