The ebonised case on scallop-cast gilt-metal feet, foliate mounts to the front, angles and sides, the arched top flanked by four foliate cast gadrooned flambeau urn finials centred by a baldechin bell tower with a gentlemen jacquemart striking the hours and quarters with his arms, the serpentine matted and gilt dial with central Roman and Arabic white enamel chapter disc within a garnet-set bezel and with pierced gilt hour and minute hands and blued steel sweep centre seconds, subsidiary enamel dials above for strike/silent and age of moon, flanking a rolling moon ball within a gilt recess, the five pillar twin chain fusee movement with verge escapement, the strike operated by levers atop the plates with indirect wires leading to the jacquemart above, the backplate profusely engraved with foliage and similarily engraved movement securing brackets to the case
