The case with double skirt to the boxwood and ebony-lined plinth, concave moulding beneath the similarily inlaid arched trunk door with gilt-brass escutcheon, the hood with brass-capped reeded detached columns supporting a later mahogany breakarch moulding and later mahogany pagoda top, the dial signed Jasper Taylor, Holborn, Londn on a rectangular plaque in the matted centre with subsidiary seconds ring and calendar aperture, brass Roman and Arabic chapter ring with pierced steel hands, urn-and-eagle spandrels, the arch with dolphin spandrels flanking a strike/silent ring with similarily pierced steel hand, the five pillar rack striking movement with anchor escapement and strike on the bell
