Dial signed James Hutchin, Southwark; case basially circa 1680; dial and movement circa 1700
The case veneered with walnut oysters to the plinth with later skirt and later moulding to the rectangular trunk door with later mouldings and centered by a floral marquetry and green stained bone oval panel with floral marquetry spandrels, glazed lenticle, later mouldings, lacking door lock and later hinges, convex moulding beneath the hood with later twist columns supporting a convex-moulded frieze beneath the flat top, the 11 in. sq. dial signed Jam. Hutchin Southwark on the brass Roman and Arabic chapter ring with half-hour markers and later blued steel hands, the matted centre with subsidiary seconds ring, ringed winding holes and decorated calendar aperture, foliate cherub spandrels interrupting the foliate engraved border, pinned dial feet, latches to the five ringed pillars of the movement with anchor escapement and inside countwheel strike on a later bell; movement associated to the case
