The case of waisted outline cast with stylised foliage and surmounted by a folding foliate cast handle, classical portrait medallions to the sides, the gadrooned base on bun feet, convex glazed bezel to the white enamel Roman and Arabic dial signed Ferdinand Berthoud with intricately pierced ormolu hands, regulation square above 60, the movement with circular plates with four back-pinned pillars and twin going barrels, later anchor escapement, numbered countwheel strike on bell on the back-plate signed Ferdinand Berthoud AParis
