A Queen Anne month-going walnut longcase clock

The 12 in. dial signed Alex Hewitt London on the silvered chapter ring with well sculpted blued steel hands (minute hand restored), matted centre with central engraved rosette, subsidiary seconds ring and calendar aperture, winged cherub-and-foliate spandrels interrupting the foliate engraved border, latches to the dial feet and six ringed pillars of the movement with anchor escapement and inside countwheel strike on bell, the substantially altered feather-banded case now with out-set angles with foliate carved walnut volutes to the plinth and throat mouldings, lenticle to the rectangular trunk door with later escutcheon, the caddy-top hood with detached columns supporting the frieze with later sound fret, the top flanked by later brass military finials; with alterations, basically circa 1710
