No information can be found for Johann Hinrieh Grader, he could quite possibly have been the original owner of this clock, the engraving of a date on the dial very often signifies a personalised touch.

Year-going movements are particularly rare, the size of their cases meant that many ceilings were just too low but those that were made were usually just timepieces with the occasional exception of an hour striking train. The present clock is possibly unique in having an additional quarter striking train that runs for its full year cycle.
