The case with stepped pediment, the trunk with ebony inlaid lined panels to the sides, similar inlay to the plinth on simple skirt, the trunk door with a central barometer with large glass mercury reservoir with silvered and engraved barometric scale above calibrated 25 to 29, twin thermometers below engraved Centigrade Réaumeur and Fahrenheit Réaumeur, convex glazed ormolu bezel to the circular silvered Roman dial signed Aimé Jacob No. 35, blued moon hands with counterpoised sweep centre seconds, the reverse of the dial with stamp Souscription Aimé Jacob No. 35, the movement with rectangular plates and four back-pinned pillars, deadbeat escapement mounted on the back-plate, the second beating pendulum with woodrod and spring suspension, the back-plate with identical stamp to that on the back of the dial
