A PAIR OF MEISSEN CIRCULAR TWO-HANDLED TUREENS, COVERS AND STANDS
Circa 1745, blue crossed swords marks, Pressnummer 26 to tureens and 20 to stands
The tureens of shallow form with moulded gilt, C-scroll and shell handles, the shallow domed covers with branch finials with coloured flower terminals, each piece painted with Holzschnitt Blumen within moulded gilt quatrefoil cartouches reserved on an ozier ground and with scattered ombrierte insects, gilt line rims (both tureens cracked across the base and up the side and rivetted and held together by ormolu bands to the shoulder and foot, the finials with flaking to green enamel and some minute chipping to flowers, one stand with extended and divided crack from rim towards the well through one cartouche)
