At the start of the third film, Dreyfus has spent three years in an asylum and is due for a review with the Sanity Commission. Clouseau, now promoted to Chief Inspector since Dreyfus' incarceration, decides to visit him to speak on his behalf at the review. The bench is seen by the lakeside and is where Clouseau and Dreyfus sit whilst the full horror of what Clouseau is saying dawns on Dreyfus.

According to the vendor, the bench had to be re-balanced to allow for the stunt when Clouseau stands and Dreyfus is catapulted into the lake. Subsequent to filming, the bench was re-balanced and the seat and back have been replaced.
