The arched case with gilt-brass pineapple finial to a stepped top with cut-brass and silk-backed sound panels, ring handles to the sides issuing from wreath mounts, above rectangular sound frets with lozenge-shaped brass frets, the front inlaid with cut brass and with ripple-moulded gallery above the base, on ball feet, the white painted circular dial with strike/silent above XII and signed Thwaites & Reed Clerkenwell LONDON, with steel crescent moon hands, the triple gut fusee movement with anchor escapement, quarter-chiming on eight nested bells and with hour strike on further bell, shouldered plates with engraved border and repeat signature -- 23in. (58.5cm.) high
