A St. Cloud silver-gilt mounted snuff-box
Circa 1740, the contemporary mounts with décharge of Louis Robin, Paris, 1738-44
Modelled as a recumbent cat to the left, painted in blue, green, turquoise, iron-red and gilt with an Oriental figure seated among flowering plants and grasses, its back with a willow tree issuing from pierced blue rockwork flanked by two seated Orientals holding parasols, the cover similarly decorated with Orientals in a fenced garden and on shrubby river islands (minute chip to left ear, some very slight rubbing to enamels on body, rubbing to underside of cover)
