Lot Essay

Six other allegories of death and of the vanity of human actions by Ligozzi are in the Louvre (F. Viatte, Dessins Toscans, XVIe-XVIIIe siècles, Paris, 1988, I, nos. 258-61), in the Pierpont Morgan Library, New York and in the Accademia, Venice. One of the Louvre drawings is dated 1625.
