The makers have kindly confirmed that the rifle was completed circa 1894. Double-barrelled rifles built in small-bore calibres are relatively rare and they are more so when they are of best quality, as here. The addition of a device to simulate external hammers is most unusual as also is the foresight arrangement of this rifle which is designed so that as the protector is folded forward, carrying with it a fine bead-sight, another, broader, sight is brought upwards into sight
