The high-shouldered body decorated in raised fillets of slip on each side with a panel enclosing grape vine below the pair of elephant-head handles flanking the tall trumpet-form neck, all in rich turquoise, purple and cream, the interior, mouth rim and interior of the base cream glazed

Lot Essay

A pair of very similar vases was included in the exhibition, Chinese Ceramics from the Prehistoric Period through Ch'ien Lung, Los Angeles County Museum, 14 March - 27 April 1952, no. 298.
