Meiji Period (late 19th Century), blue enamel mark Satsuma yaki
Painted in polychrome enamels and gilt over a clear crackled glaze with the Yatsuhashi Bridge and iris garden of Tales of Ise, the shoulder decorated with a band of floral lappets beneath a band of chrysanthemums, the rim with drizzled blue enamel below a band of scrolling vines, the foot with a tight 'comb tooth' pattern and the handle moulded in the form of a stylized dragon
