A large pair of Imari tapering jars
Circa 1700
with short cylindrical necks, painted and gilt with pavilions in blossoming and flowering gardens within shaped border panels to the shoulder and foot of quail amongst millet and chrysanthemums and insects amongst lillies and further flowers, the necks with further peony sprays and foliage -- 24½in. (62cms) high, (one cracked to lower body, rubbing).
