A Saddle
Mid-17th Century, probably English
On a wooden frame with (later ?) canvas-covered padding, with oblong bow and cantle with rounded corners, the former lower and with a small horn, covered externally with red velvet (worn) extending over the flaps, trimmed with silver fringe and gold galloon, the latter held by nails with rosette-shaped heads of flattened conical shape, and with fleurs-de-lys covered with silver thread (mostly missing) at the corners of the flaps
