Part Of A North Italian (Probably Milanese) Poleyn For The Left Knee
Circa 1450
Comprising a main plate covering the knee-cap, with large shapely oval side-wing with transverse V-shaped 'pucker' and broad recessed border, and three downward-lapping articulated plates below, the bottom one deeper and with cusped lower edge drawn down to a blunt central point (slight damage at the tip), and pierced on the left for attachment to a greave, the surface rust-stained throughout
