The rectangular moulded cornice with broken pediment centred by a later platform, above a dentilled cornice, blind fretwork-carved frieze, and a pair of doors with shaped panels enclosing a fitted interior of four short adjustable shelves above a series of pigeon-holes and drawers around a door enclosing a further drawer, the lower section with gilt-tooled burgundy leather-lined writing-surface and a fitted interior of pigeon-holes and drawers around a central door enclosing a further drawer, the drawers with ivory knob handles, above three graduated drawers, on a later moulded plinth and shaped bracket feet, lacking urn from pediment, the handles and locks replaced

The serpentined panels feature on a clothes-press of the 1740s bearing the trade label of the Clerkenwell cabinet-maker Giles Grendey (d. 1780) (C. Gilbert, The Pictorial Dictionary of Marked London Furniture, Leeds, 1996, fig. 433).
