The case painted with flowers and gilt-heightened scarlet reserves, with later Chinese figures to the front, case with some redecoration, surmounted by a cut glass cupola supported on six faceted columns (one chipped), with later cut glass urn finials to the angles surmounted by crescent urns (some chips), with brass handles to the sides above foliate cast sound frets, faceted glass columns to the recessed front angles, on foliate scroll cast feet, with florally painted mask (possibly later) to the white enamel Turkish chapter disc (replaced and restored) signed GEO. PRIOR LONDON, later blued steel hands, subsidiary enamel dials above for strike/silent and tune selection (1 Dance, 2 Song, 3 Air, 4 Song), later false plate to the five pillar triple gut fusee movement with knife-edge verge escapement, hour strike on bell and music on eight bells via a 3in. pinned cylinder, music trip repeat to one side and hour trip repeat to the other, the backplate profusely engraved with foliate scrolls and with leafy engraving to the movement securing brackets -- 32½in. (82cm.) high

Clocks of related design by George Prior are illustrated in Richard C R Barder The Georgian Bracket Clock, Woodbridge 1993, plates 22 and 24, pp.160-161. A similar clock for the Turkish market, by Henry Borrell, was sold Christie's London 13 December 2000, lot 83.
