A late Victorian mahogany and gilt-brass mounted quarter-chiming Directors' clock, circa 1900
The case with flaming finials to the chamfered top (one lacking) classical frieze panel to the front, with foliate cast handles and sound panels to the sides, Corinthian columns to the recessed front angles, raised on paw feet, the dial with silvered chapter ring and matted centre, subsidiary rings above for chime/silent, slow/fast and Whittington/Cambridge chimes, the substantial triple chain fusee movement with anchor escapement, hour strike on gong and quarter chimes on eight nested bells, with pendulum holdfast to the backplate -- 26¾in. (68cm.) high
