The case with swag-hung urn surmount, pilasters to the sides terminating in fluted lunettes and fluted columns to the front angles, on inverted breakfront base (some losses to cornice mouldings), fretwork panel to the rear door, the silvered circular Roman dial engraved to the centre with conjoining foliate scrolls and signed DENT within a triangle 61, STRAND & 4, ROYAL EXCHANGE LONDON NO.51674, blued steel trefoil hands, the twin chain fusee movement with anchor escapement and strike on gong, signed on the spot-finished backplate E. DENT & CO. 61 STRAND LONDON, with conforming finish to the pendulum bob, with pendulum holdfast -- 19¾in. (50cm.) high
