A William IV mahogany longcase clock, circa 1830
The case with breakarch hood with ebony line inlay, circular side glasses within moulded frames and with chamfered front angles, with conforming chamfered angles and ebony inlays flanking the arched trunk door, on plinth with ebonised frame to front panel and with triangular apron, the 11½in. diameter brass dial with silvered Roman and Arabic chapter ring signed Chater & Son LONDON, matted centre with subsidiary silvered seconds ring and date aperture, black painted hands, the five pillar rack striking movement with anchor escapement -- 75in. (191cm.) high
