The case with plain swan neck pediment to the hood, gilt-brass Corinthian columns to the recessed front angles and silk backed wooden sound frets to the sides, the trunk with rosewood crossbanding, arched door with line inlay and floral marquetry, with conforming decoration to the plinth raised on a wavy apron, the 12in. wide brass dial with mask and foliate spandrels to a silvered chapter ring, matted centre with subsidiary silvered seconds ring, tune selection lever by III, with chime/silent ring in the arch, the three train movement with anchor escapement, quarter chiming on eight nested bells via eight hammers and with hour strike on gong -- 92¼in. (234cm.) high
