A Regency Scottish mahogany longcase clock, circa 1815
The case with brass rosette caps to the hood with swan neck pediment, brass-capped fluted front columns, with conforming three-quarter length pilasters flanking the short line inlaid trunk door with lancet arch top, further line inlays below, the plinth with cross-banded border and on later base, the 12½in. wide white dial with painted floral spandrels, Roman chapters with lozenge five minute markers and signed outside the minute track Boyd Cupar (some retouching), the centre with subsidiary seconds and date rings, polished brass hands, painted with a bird and flowers to the arch, with falseplate to the four pillar rack striking movement with anchor escapement -- 81¼in. (206.5cm.) high
