An English oak longcase clock
The case with stepped top hood with blind fret panel to the front (partial losses), glazed panels within moulded frames to the sides, turned bulbous pilasters to the front (losses to capitals), rectangular trunk door with double-moulded frame (formerly with lenticle, now filled), with stamped initials W.D. to the outside and inventory plaque numbered 637 to the inside, on stepped plinth (part later), the 12in. square gilt-brass dial with old man mask and foliate spandrels to a silvered chapter ring signed John Fielder Att Alton, with fleur-de-lys half hour markers, matted centre with subsidiary silvered seconds ring and ringed winding holes, the circular date aperture also ringed and with engraving around it of two birds flanking a bowl of fruit, steel hands (later minute), the five ringed pillar movement with anchor escapement and inside countwheel strike on bell; associated, dial and movement circa 1720, case second quarter 18th century -- 78¾in. (200cm.) high

This lot, if not cleared by 1pm on the next business day following the sale will be removed to the warehouse of: Cadogan Tate Ltd., Fine Art Services Cadogan House, 2 Relay Road, London W12 7SJ. An initial transfer and administration charge of £3.20 (Paintings) or £18.50 (Furniture/Objects) and a storage charge of £1.60 (Paintings) or £ 3.20 (Furniture/Objects) per lot per day will be payable to Cadogan Tate. These charges are subject to VAT and an insurance surcharge. Exceptionally large pictures will be subject to a surcharge.
