A William IV oak and mahogany longcase clock, circa 1830
The case with brass rosette-capped swan neck pediment to the hood, outset plain and part baluster columns to the front, the trunk door with mahogany banding and canted arch top, flanked by canted angles, with conforming band to the plinth (feet lacking), the 12in. wide white dial with spandrels painted with flowers and sheaves of corn on oval reserves, Roman chapter ring with subsidiary seconds ring (lacks hand), and arched date aperture, signed Garratt Peterboro', with brass hands, the arch with painted rolling moon alternating with ship and castle scenes, with WALKER & HUGHES falseplate to the four pillar rack striking movement with anchor escapement -- 78in. (238cm.) high
