A Regency Scottish mahogany longcase clock, first quarter 19th century
The case with brass-capped swan neck pediment to the hood, outset plain turned columns to the front and outset half columns to the rear, arched trunk door flanked by moulded angles, with conforming angles to a plinth with moulded panelling and raised on bracket feet, the 12in. wide white dial with raised painted gilt foliate scroll spandrels, subsidiary seconds and date rings to the centre, signed REID EDINBURGH, steel arrow hands (later?), painted rolling moon to the arch alternating with scenes of a ship of the line and a pastoral view, pinned directly to the four pillar rack striing movement with anchor escapement -- 86in. (219cm.) high
