Lot Essay

Jean Louis Grégoire (d.1890) studied under Salmson, exhibiting at the Salon beginning in 1867. Specialising in allegorical bronzes, he was one of the first Associates of the Société des Artistes Français. A single bronze group, depicting the Rescue of Andromeda by Perseus, sold Sotheby's London, 15 March 1991, lot 124 (£10,800).
