The rectangular top inlaid with lozenge parquetry within a floral marquetry border, above a panelled frieze, the gold ground painted with ribbon-tied scrolling flowers, the corners each with a ram's mask above floral swags, on blue-painted tapering legs applied with berried trailing foliate banding
28½in. (72.4cm.) high; 22in. (55.9cm.) wide; 16 1/8in. (41cm.) deep

Lot Essay

Whilst the lozenge inlay to its top copies Riesener's trademark parquetry, the floral swag corner mounts and tapering ring-banded legs of this table de salon recall similar elements incorporated in a table supplied by the celebrated ébéniste in 1780 for the cabinet intérieur of Marie-Antoinette at Versailles, now in the Louvre.
