[NEW YORK COLONY, EASTHAMPTON, LONG ISLAND]. Manuscript document, a Deed of Sale, Easthampton, 26 September 1715. 1 page, 418 x 328 mm. (16 3/8 x 12 7/8 in.), with five small generic seals in red wax (a flower), holes at folds slightly affecting a few letters of text, in a giltwood frame.
A relatively early deed of sale by which Ebenezer Look and his wife Hannah "of Easthampton in County of Suffolk and Province of New York in consideration of the sum of £45," sell 3½ acres in the north section of Easthampton to Louis Conkling. Multiple witnesses sign at the bottom including: William Osborne, Matthias Burnes, John Conkling, several members of the Look family and Matthew Burnett, Justice of the Peace. Each signer impress the same small flower in lieu of personal seals. Pre-Revolutionary War deeds from this part of Long Island are uncommon.
