Arabic manuscript on cream paper, comprising three short works on metaphysical thought and the secrets of names and letters, 40ff. with 21ll. of black naskh, titles in red, several small line drawings and tables within text, final folio with name of scribe Sheikh Badr al-Din ibn Muhammad al-Qalandar and dated Tuesday 3 Safar 1003, generally good condition, in plain brown morocco binding

Lot Essay

The manuscript comprises Mir'at al-ma'ani li idrak al-'alam al-insani by al-Qirwani, Sharh al-asma' al-sab'ah al-ta'iah by Abi al-Qasim al-Qurtabi and Sharh sirr al-asrar by Ahmad ibn 'Ali al-Buni.
The first is an Arabic rendition of a work in Sanskrit of a metaphysical nature. The other two concern seven mystical names and amulets which can be made from them.
