Lot Essay

This leaf comes from a manuscript prepared for Shah Rukh on geography and history. It stems from the Jami' al-Tawarikh of Rashid al-Din and updates the history to the time of its patron, the Timurid ruler Shah Rukh. The colophon of this manuscript was found attached to a copy of the Jami' al-Tawarikh in the Topkapi Library and is dated 6 Muharram 829/18 November 1425.
