A SASSANIAN IRIDESCENT GREEN GLASS FACETED BOWL
3RD-7TH CENTURY A.D.
The deep bowl cut with four registers of faceted circles, seven others surround a central large facet on the base, blackened iridescent surface, restored rim chips, 3½ in. (9 cm.) high; a Roman amber glass pillar-moulded bowl, with decorative vertical ribs around the exterior, the interior with wheel-cut lines, iridescent, 4 7/8 in. (12.4 cm.) diam.; another of translucent green glass with prominent tapered ribs, 4¾ in. (12 cm.) diam; an iridescent olive-green cast glass dish, the shallow bowl decorated on the interior with parallel wheel-cut grooves below the rim, 5 7/8 in. (15 cm.) diam.; and a similar deeper glass bowl, repaired, 2¼ in. (5.7 cm.) high, all circa 1st Century B.C./A.D. (5)
