A RARE LARGE MOULDED CELADON-GLAZED BOWL
QIANLONG SIX-CHARACTER SEAL MARK AND OF THE PERIOD

The deep rounded sides are moulded in shallow relief with six peony heads on a leafy meander and a cloud-scroll below the mouth rim, the interior lightly incised with a single peony at the centre encircled by a further peony scroll on the sides, below a key-fret band at the mouth, entirely covered with a fine celadon glaze of sea-green tone, slight wear to interior

Lot Essay

Several related Yongzheng and Qianlong examples of these bowls have been sold at auction. A similar Qianlong bowl was sold in these Rooms, 31 October 1994, lot 631; and a Yongzheng bowl is illustrated by A. du Boulay, Christie's Pictorial History of Chinese Ceramics, p. 219.
