Lot Essay

As pointed out by Hella Robels in Van Bruegel tot Rubens, exhibition catalogue, 1992/,under no.100, Fyt was the first to depict dead game in a landscape. Characteristic for him is the placing of the dead birds close to the picture plane, so that their skin, also enhanced by the vivid brushwork, becomes tangible.
